On the Other End of Six Hours

Updated: Oct 30, 2022

Just finished a six hour edit session.

It was weird. Partially it was meant to make up for the fact that I didn't edit for three hours yesterday and was already supposed to edit for three hours today.

I don't know why I procrastinate, and it doesn't help. But I suppose that's just part of the grind.

In writing, I've found that there's both good days and bad. It's easy to be discouraged or disheartened and let the resistance that Pressfield talks so much about win the day. Nobody said that this would be easy, but damn, sometimes it's hard to show up.

It's hard to write when the novelty wears off and the going gets hard, but there's a fulfillment there. There's a freedom on being on the other end of a task well done. Of showing up and working hard until the To-do list is done and the day is won. It's almost indescribable, downright magical.

Ultimately, I won today, but there's more days, more weeks, more months, and more books on the horizon. It'll never end. But that's the life I choose and like Pressfield said, it's better to take knocks in the arena than to have always wondered what could have been. All I can do now is keep choosing to face my dreams, the days, and the challenges as time moves forward.

Other than that, I won a free week of yoga and watched Cyberpunk Edgerunners. Both were great. I'm playing through Cyberpunk 2077 again and it's been nice cruising through Night City. On the reading front, I'm tempted to do another re-read of Night Angel by Brent Weeks, but I also have a massive, always growing backlog of unread books.

Aside from that, that's all that relatively new with me. Hope all's well with everyone else and that you all have a great day.

Sincerely,

Josh Acocella
